Description
For the construction of Highfields, 26 new affordable homes for Simmons Association in Suffolk, architects Riches Hawley Mikhail Architects wanted to carefully restore and conserve this listed mill building into a collection of one and two-bedroom apartments located near the river Ore. To help achieve this, Riches Hawley Mikhail used Lime plaster from Limetec. One of the outstanding benefits of using lime plaster is its high porosity; which allows you to build permeable wall systems, eliminating standing condensation. A lime-finished structure "breathes", enabling moisture to evaporate.
Tasks

We had been looking for a new home for about 18 months when we discovered The Old Mill. It was just what we were hoping for – an old building with plenty of character but with a beautifully renovated interior. It’s near the station and the High Street and is perfectly placed for commuting. It only takes about 35 minutes to get into the City and the River Thames is about five minutes away.
